UNICO JUEGO PERFECTO EN EL BEISBOL DE GUATEMALA
Las raíces del beisbol en Guatemala se remontan al 29 de julio de 1880 cuando quedó fundado el primer club de los batazos. Pero fue hasta 1912 cuando se empezó a jugar formalmente en los campos del Hipódromo del Norte. Siendo el club Hercules la cuna de este deporte en nuestro país.
En el campeonato nacional de 1957, nuestro deporte pasaba por uno de sus grandes momentos, pues jornada tras jornada la afición abarrotaba con su presencia el diamante ubicado al final de zona 2.
En un partido más del calendario, se enfrentaron el domingo 3 de febreo de 1957 las novenas del Marte y del Hacienda. El pitcher del Marte era Armando Niño de nacionalidad nicaraguense, el cual fue ponchando y ponchando hasta lograr el JUEGO PERFECTO.
Habían desfilado 27 bateadores y ninguno conecto un hit y este es el único juego perfecto en la historia del beisbol mayor guatemalteco.
